Long post here...might wanna grab a drink. And don't forget to check the mini-contest at the bottom of the blog!! Ya gotta do it!
So I've finished the knitting part of the Bar Harbor Shell bag. I have felted the bag and I cord handles (thank you Gina! She knit one of the i cords for me) Now to line it (I think) and attach the handles...I think. I say I think because I had a dream about the handles last night. I was in a car with Donna (blogless sadly) and Heather and we were talking about the bag and handles. Donna had found some CUTE handles...$40 for the pair!!!!!!! Ack In your dreams (or rather mine!)!! You're kidding..can you say HELLO I-CORD HANDLE!!!??? Below is the bag after felting.

It has also been a not so fun end of the week for Mr. Bean. Poor Nathan...this kid is going to grow up to be so dang tough with all he is going through!! This week we've been battling the "itchies". He has had an allergic reaction to something. The pharmacist says, "All I can offer is my sympathy." And he suggested oatmeal baths too. Nathan's been a trooper. When he starts itching he ask for a bath and then the calamine lotion. Let's hope this leaves soon, poor little tyke! Please send Nathan "get well" vibes!!I also had a FUN mail day yesterday! BEADS!! yes I said Beads...Just as good as Yarn!! I know Manchgirls...don't gasp and swoon, I'm not leaving ya'll!! This was from a Beads For Birthday program I signed up for on All About Beads. My mystery pal sent me all these goodies!! I've already put the orange beads to action for Mamarox's Beaded Face swap!! Thank you mystery pal!!! :) There were also some knitting accessories that didn't make the picture! I was so excited about them they went in my knitting bag quickly so I didn't lose them. And finally a game.... Sonya tagged me so I guess I should play :) Looks like Fun!

Oh, poor Nathan! I hope it is easy to figure out what he reacted to so he can NEVER have it again! Hang in there.

Love the bag (whichever handles it gets) and the contest! I'm in. =-D

Aw, poor Nathan... There is an oatmeal lotion out there, too - don't know if that will help if you're using the calomine already.

The aveeno oatmeal bath is great but in addition I'd add that the aveeno lotion that has some mint in it is also a bit helpful as is handmade mint soaps if you can find them anywhere- maybe a Whole Foods? Benedryl by mouth is what the allergist always recommended to me but it knocks me out so that I rarely take it.

For handles- I found some cute handles at Micheal's today for $5.99 that are a bit easier on the budget. Not as nice as those gorgeous leather handles I saw on Ravelry but still nice and I know they won't stretch. Tomorrow I'm going to try adding grommets to the bag and then attach the handles through those.

Lora, I don't know if there's an age limit for cortizone cream, but that works well for rashes. It does make skin a very tiny bit thinner, so if he already has skin problems, you shouldn't use it, of course.

Sorry to see that rash on Nathan, that does not look pleasant at all.

Okay... I'm in for the contest! I was lucky enough to receive your green pin last year. Which, by the way, provided the inspiration for the first pin I beaded up for this year.

I'll be posting pics later this weekend.

Hope Nathan is better today. Wish I could give him a hug. Sometimes a Mom-Mom's hug helps.

I did the scattergories. It's tough with the handicap of having the same starting letter. My brain hurts.

Laurin said...

are the scratchies going away?

Jody said...

Oh I sure hope the itchies are gone, that does not look comfortable at all.
I did the scattagories game & I must admit "J" is a very tough letter...yikes.

Oh poor Nathan. Hives are sooo itchy! Are you allowed to give him an antihistamine such as Claratyne? The thing is that the more he scratches, the worse it will get. Good luck you guys!

Thank you for the competition by the way. What fun! :)
